One Last Time

For one last time, we sailed to an exotic Greek Island!

Our Camping Morning

With the glorious sunrise as our backdrop, we woke up on our little boat still alive and well. At least, most of us woke up in a great attitude. Nick was starting to get stir crazy! Since we could not go on shore for baked goods, we had a very light breakfast to say the least. I still thoroughly enjoyed the views!!

Kolona Beach, part 2

“Unfortunately”, our sailing time was really long today. Now that we are on the second to last day, we appreciated our sailing time! To break up the trip, Captain decided (and we easily approved!) to stop at Kythonos for a cool beach. After an easy sail of 4-5 hours, we pulled into the original first island of Kythonos.
When we dropped anchor, we all laughed as this was the beach we were originally trying to get to on our last day here, but couldn’t get to! No one would take us to this beach but here we are just a few days late! This beach is special as there is a sand bar splitting the cove and sea. Not to mention the sea is a wonderful blue colour!
Once we docked, we all jumped in as this would be our last swim! Since this was the elusive beach, we all swam to shore and laid out on the hot sand. It was extremely peaceful as we stared at the various yachts. They were probably all beginning their journey whereas we were ending it!
Nick didn’t want to join but once he saw us going to shore, he leapt out of boat. He rushed to shore and literally kissed the sand. I’m only making up part of that story...
Our time on our lovely little beach ended abruptly when the captain waved us in to go to Kea.

Kool Kea

For the last great true sail, it was extremely peaceful. We had amazing weather, company, and food and drink. I think reality was beginning to set in so we were all happy to be sailing and enjoying the weather.
We did our last docking very successfully! Then we immediately went to town to get something to eat. After over 24 hours on the boat, we were out of food. Good thing the closest tavern was literally 5 feet from the boat.
After gorging on a lovely snack of shrimps and other bits, we went back to boat to relax. We felt no pressure to go back and forth to the town since we were literally on it’s doorstep. During this relaxation, we sipped on our wine, got some gelato (obviously), and people watched. It was amazing.
While we debated going into town, we asked the captain what he wanted to do. Since he wanted to stay by the boat, we decided to go wherever he wanted to go! Of course he opted to his friends restaurant. While we got ready, he hopped over for a coffee, obviously.
Luckily, we had amazing sunset views from the front of the boat. We all rotated for great pictures and enjoyed our last sunset on the Aegean Sea. It is a very fitting way to end the trip!!

The Last Supper

Our dinner was jovial and yummy! Since we ate here for lunch, we really struggled to choose what to eat! We opted for a family sharing plan rather than choosing individual meals. Captain made funny jokes and we all grilled him on if he would miss us!
The night did not end there! To cap it off, we strolled back to the gelato place with the Captain. It was a very lovely and fitting way to end our last night!
